Reading time:

A few weeks ago, in the final days leading up to Christmas, Linus Torvalds released version 4.20 of the Linux Kernel. Collaborans were once again active during this development cycle, contributing 22 patches, 112 reviews & 55 sign-offs. Below is a summary of their contributions. As is the custom, head to LWN.net if you would like to read more about the merge window for 4.20 (part 1 & part 2).

Graphics:

  • Robert Foss ensured that dma_fence_put() is called in msm_ioctl_gem_submit() even if dma_fence_wait fail.
  • Sebastian Reichel fixed a couple of recent regressions in omapdrm's DSI support and reviewed the ongoing work to use DRM's common panel and bridge code in the driver.
  • Ezequiel Garcia added prime mapping support to the virtio-gpu graphics driver. This allows to use the virtio-gpu in an exporter role, e.g. importing buffers in media drivers.

Here, there and everywhere:

  • Gabriel Krisman Bertazi fixed a build error in ext4 code when DX_DEBUG is enabled.
  • Enric Balletbò contributed several interesting commits. He modified the backlight driver by adding an API to configure and enable pwm in one call and fixing backlight brightness level for non device tree cases. He also cleaned and improved mfd documentation, removed a bad sanity checker in rockchip_ddrclk_get_parent and added try_then_request_governor() to ensure that governor module is loaded before to use it.
  • Sebastian Reichel added const attribute to all mfd_cell structures in ti-lmu and maintained the power-supply subsystem.
